I'm totally lost truly. I can't connect the dots, I feel like it's a mess in complete disorder. I like the story and the characters but I don't understand the plot. Even more these past few chapters. It is not clear at all
In the past the MC worked for the old debt collection company because he was indebted to the guy who owned it. That company borrowed money from panthers company and were consistently late on their payments. MC went over there to request an extension for the deadline and slept with panther. That’s the current scene and the first scene we see in the manga.
The MC doesn’t know that was panther—he thinks it’s some old geezer because his eyes were covered but panther knows it’s him.
I thought that was too obvious. When you started reading the story you saw a similar scene, right? In fact MC and ML go way back, if I remember correctly they were in that baseball club together, that’s likely when ML started liking him, after that they separated, ML in that time climbed up to a very high position, then this scene from the flashback happened, after some time ML likely figured out that MC and the guy he fucked are the same people and started pretending to be an old guy’s lover to be around MC.
I don’t think he pretended to be the old guys lover to be around the MC. I think he other the old guy to make the deal where the MC “trains” the ML but if he was really interested in being around the MC in the beginning then he could’ve loaned him the money. I think he just urged the geezer because he recognized he had the opportunity
I kinda understand the son, I don't agree obviously.. but i understand. He was raised in total ignorance and he tried his best to stand up to his mother without really knowing her and her purpose in the end. And then he met her, someone who stands to her principles and values, he fell in love with her and the idea of what she was, exactly what he couldn't be but wanted to.
He tried to be like her but couldn't because again he is not in a position where he can, if he want to, he will have to seperate from his mom. For now his only way of keeping hope in that fact and hopefuly that fate is to be with Jun, that's why he reacts the way he does, while he purposly knows that he has nothing to offer to her in return, which create that toxic behavior... Hope for him to find his own place without destroying himself and the other in the process
precisely. I read the novel before this and I finished it with the feeling of pity and a bit of sympathy for seungwon. He really wanted to break free of something he had no idea what it even was, and he intuitively figured junyoung had what he yearned for himself. And then he got used to playing the underling with his mom so much that he automatically chose a similar role next to junyoung. And then, in the last arc where the comic is now, all pieces of puzzles fit and the last domino in his game of self-deception falls. That's where the reality hits him, that not only he has been a puppet and an obligation to his mom and junyoung, he has been nothing for himself. His irrational and violent actions are all his protest against this realization, his last childish resort to prove to himself that he has not playing the role of this husk for so many years. I get why people hate on him so much, but I wish they could see a bit beyond the "hero" vs "villain and understand how realistic his character is portrayed, a grey human being that swings like a pendulium between light and darkness.
Thanks for the added infos, I couldn't agree more with you. People tend to only think of hero and villain as you said, but this is definitlt not the role of Seungwon. We are facing a man who is looking to find his own role in a life where his mother made everything to make him submissive.
Having the role she made for him, but not the one he choose. He deserve better and I hope he will find his redemption and true purpose, as this is actually the most human thing.
Cause finding our role in our lives are what we are all looking for
I really like the fact that we have the backstory of their relationship, how Sol fell in love, how Brian did too and the building of everything.
But I do feel like it's taking the place of the current present. I really appreciate the digging in the past, I wish more author did that, however it's becoming way too long.. So long that I feel like I'll have to reread all the predent relationship before reading the come-back when it'll come.
Don't worry guys... It will be better than you think
