okay so like the guy only started dating the girl because he noticed the girl liked his friend which then in turn made the friend jealous and started messing with the girl so they break up. at least that's what i believe it to be ╮(￣▽￣)╭

that's what I understand too, seems like Iori took Rica because he was jealous but then at the end we see that Emi was in fact the first to take Rica away from Iori so I guess their fellings are mutual in a twisted way.
