Yes, a very huge mistake. It change the entire power dynamics, ignoring the culture. But I guess the translator at the time did not think of it has important, never imagining that the story was not a one off.
I wanted to own this series and could not get my hands on reasonable price version in English, so I got the story in french. A bit stuck now, not going to change just for the last few volumes.
