Sorry for this kind of question? Ok this might be long, here we go ! This is not a bad thing so don't overthink it! So I was just wandering around some comments after I finished reading some manga, I suddenly read a comment that was insulting the website being disgusting, there was a reply saying that it was better that person to leave because the website is full of porn. So I started to think , i am not a real yaoi fan but I still read some from time to time like my first one Rutta to kodama , I really never concentrated on the sex but on their feelings , the feelings that they have between were the ones that make me warm . But yeah still we are watching sex scenes at the same time. But there are also people who likes yaoi and say that they are cute and adorable which make them like it . So the thing is , do you see it as porn ? How will you describe what you read? Because I actually never thought it like that , it is just something you can't read around . Or are my thoughts wrong?
I think the other main reason why people tend to think its something you cant read around is bcs yaoi is simply yknow homosexual and although yea its 2017 its not smthg that is globally accepted beside that, if we were to compare yaoi and a standard shoujo manga we can see that yaois tend to have a lot more sex, and the actual gay version of shoujo would be shounen ai not yaoi,in shoujo manga that do contain sex they would always tag it as ecchi so to answer your main q , yes i do think that yaoi is porn simply bcs porn means a sexual act of any kind to be watched but PORN from our understanding is simply sex whereas yaoi is a buildup of story that usually end in sex and although that may sound like porn,its not bcs if u ever watch porn yknow what talking about.
TL;DR porn n yaoi is similar in the way that it usually either end in sex or contain sex and we enjoy watching it
I am the person that said that the site was full of porn. I apologize if it offended you in any way. I wasn't exactly talking about all of the yaoi/yuri mangas, just some in specific, for example, one-shots that don't have any plot and are simply smut. I also prefer romantic mangas and such, since I can't handle the angst and others that much. ╮(￣▽￣)╭

I wouldn't call anything like Little Butterfly or Rutta To Kodama porn. It has some sex scenes but not a lot and it doesn't revolve around them. They have more in common w/ shoujo (like Mars) than hentai/porn.
But I would call anything like Syatei Hani, Kairaku Hani, and Under Grand Hotel (and anything else by this author) porn because it focuses on the sex and practically every chapter has at least 1 scene.
I wouldn’t call it porn. Lol for some reason I feel more comfortable calling it smut. It’s not what the reader thinks about the manga they read and what the manga content actually contains outside of sexual relations. If the manga has sex in it then it’s just labeled porn for the general public I think. You know, so that people, especially younger aged children, do not read what’s inside R-18 bl manga. I don’t think anyone that reads yaoi considers it 100% pornographic, but I think it’s labeled as such simply because it has sex within it.

Well there is homoromantic stories and homoerotic stories in yaoi, so it depends of the manga.
