I’m struggling to take it seriously recently. The only thing that’s kept me reading is the art but these character designs are bad in a way that pretty art won’t fix #－.－)
Like the kings form in this last chapter made that super obvious because why was he looking like a deviantart fan child of Taehyun and the archduke he was fighting…
Maybe I’m just burnt out on it and this is a series that’s just better as a binge read

I love this series. But. This new arc is already giving me bad vibes. Why is it pitting marginalised communities against each other. Why is the girl wearing a dreads wig. I cannot for the life of me imagine the rap as being good (although that might be it translating poorly). It’s kinda reading as racist against the black community so far, although I don’t think it was intentional #－.－)
Having said that I’m not Asian, American or black so I may be reading this wrong culturally ╮(￣▽￣)╭
I’m black, that loc wig made me giggle daguq is this shit, they’re trying to do an 8 mile but I’m not feeling her yet. Also the spirit being Tupac is crazy.

It’s most likely because we (international) were not the target audience to begin with. It feels like it’s written by Korean for Koreans who’ve barely interacted with anyone who isn’t Korean, so nobody but those who are multiculturally aware or are actually a part of said culture will point shit out. From how the comic is written, the author probably didn’t do the proper research of the complexities of the rap scene when it comes to the involvement of non black/brown people participating in the rap scene. Like even watching 8 mile would’ve been a good way to learn (but I bet the author never watched 8 mile lol). I’m saying this because I’m East Asian myself that has lived in both eastern and western societies with friends of other ethnicities, and honestly it’s really not that hard to ask, learn, and do research with how the internet is nowadays. We are all reading this illegally anyways so the author will just remain blissfully unaware of our opinions lmao.
But it is pretty interesting to see how Korean comics depict other countries, because you can definitely start to tell whether the author did their due diligence on the research aspect.

I feel like this story has a really intriguing premise and I like the characterisation so far but I keep getting hung up on the artwork. I appreciate how difficult it is to illustrate a webcomic (I would know- I’ve tried to make one myself) but the art is jarringly disproportionate scene to scene. I feel like it’s most obvious between scenes with a side profile and any other angle for the head that the eye position and size keeps changing dramatically and in some of the shots it’s to the extent of feeling uncanny how incorrectly positioned they are. It’s a shame because in all other ways I like the art work and how the character designs are really strong despite the realistic looks they’re going for.
I thought I was alone on this the art is good but this story is really intense and feels like the art style is lacking a bit in capturing the essence of the story for me I feel like the eye is very emotionless

I’m starting to think people hate her more for misogyny reasons than anything ACTUALLY in the story because her and Shirone’s chemistry is very well set up and established! Like the dynamic isn’t being forced at all! And so many people are being intentionally reductive of Amy’s character just because they would rather Shirone get with someone else.
And I absolutely get it. A lot of us ship Shirone with Rian. But as much as the mlm would work the dynamic between Amy & Shirone is established way earlier and more consistently.
It doesn’t have to be canon for you to enjoy it and you don’t have to hate characters for getting in the way of an OTP that was never going to happen in canon because it was never the author’s intent ╥﹏╥ hell half the fun of a non canon ship is that it can only live in speculation - every example I can think of where the fandom got controlling and the creator had to make the fanon into canon despite their original intent turned out AWFUL
Aren't people already tired of throw the "misogynist" fist every time others dislike a female character because it just doesn't suit their taste? It's 2025, ffs.
And just to add, I actually love Amy's character, so I'm not defending anyone out of the blue.
