I'm currently reading this novel https://novel.munpia.com/279311
which you can also find on booktoki, just search the raw title 서부로 간 검은머리 용병 on their site. It's about a modern era mercenary from South Korea who's working in Africa, then retires and decides to fulfill the long held wish of his fallen comrade by traveling around America. He has some habits that he acquired because he had a youthful obsession with some American heroes from the Old West (like during the Gold Rush era of the 19th century) - imagine the heroes from the Gunfight at the OK Corral. And he was interested in that time period, partly because he loves guns and most martial arts (the MC hates Chinese kung fu and denigrates it as useless in actual combat which is kind of funny but understandable because it's a Korean novel) due to his former occupation. Then he falls asleep while holding a memento of his fallen buddy, and wakes up in the body of a malnourished, naive Joseon commoner (the last dynasty of Korea) who'd traveled to the USA with Chinese immigrants as part of the California Gold Rush. He was just about to be abducted back by the lackey of a (notorious) Southern slave owner, because the original had tried to escape enslavement but had ended up dying along the way.

The novel is super fucking exciting because the MC goes from zero to OP Civil War hero/tycoon, not very quickly but in a pretty believable way. What I like the most is that the author:
- is very knowledgeable about US history but does not create some boring info-dumps like in many Chinese novels I've seen
- treats topics about racism, ethnocentrism, sexism with finesse
- doesn't create some kind of harem for the MC (there's one FL! just one! and she's a fucking badass in her own right - she becomes his subordinate in his mercenary company, omg so amazing right?)
- makes some famous characters in American history much more intriguing than a kid can read about in a boring history class
- creates the strong desire to watch the novel adapted into a movie or at least a webtoon
- makes fun of some arrogant Southern Civil War legends (the losers of the Civil War, but who are still seen as fucking heroes to the racists in the deep American south)

I mean, if this novel was published in an English translation in a place like Alabama or Missouri (two former slave states in the American deep south where some old-fashioned narrow minded bigots live), it'd be straight out banned in public libraries because it makes their Confederate war heroes look like bumbling fools next to the talented and seasoned Asian war veteran from the future lol
(*≧▽≦)ノシ))

The action is superb, and although he has some OP knowledge like about American history, gun history/making and bullets, it's not so exaggerated that you'd never believe what he does could be possible.

I have no clue if someone will adapt it to a webtoon, but I really wish it would be! It has the romance of the American Old West mashed up with some modern military/mercenary action and of course a handsome and charismatic Korean martial arts genius MC, what more could you want? Did I mention the FL is a badass mercenary beauty herself?

I also had something like this, and severely too. I couldn't recognize anyone's face. I'd only be able to recognize them from environmental patterns. Like the girl who sits next to me in class, without necessarily knowing her face, I'd still know it's her because of that routine of her sitting next to me everyday. But outside of that environmental routine I was absolutely clueless. So many times had I forgotten my friends, teachers, principal, etc. They would come up to me at the local store or something and I just couldn't recognize at all who they are even tho we see each other everyday. Gotten so used to it I would just pretend. I'm good now I think, still suffer with names tho lol

Completed, bl, 1 vol manga. It actually just got uploaded like a year or two ago. Main character is blonde, and has multiple near death experiences. He had one when he was sick in the hospital as a child and almost died. He grabbed the grim reaper guys finger. I guess he felt pity for him and let him live. The other main guy is that same grim reaper (there are multiple tho) he has black hair and I think he has full black eyes. He has an English name but idr what it is. (Something with a C) anyway, he almost disappears forever for breaking the rules of the underworld but it gets a happy ending and as punishment he turns into this smoke ball like thing and will eventually gain his human form back

It's a pretty cute story. Too bad I forgot what it's called

Hi

Because of the first chapter I thought this would be very toxic or some type of blackmail against the esper guy, but nope. They're both very cute and I like their personalities. Although I do agree and disagree with the actions they're taking to an extent, I still like how he doesn't go too far. In a way I guess u could say the guide may have crossed the line, but not the line of no return. Not sure how to put that. Also Barbados is a menace to society

Bullshit ending. I hate dumb shit like this. Pushes the narrative that threatening someone with suicide works (and it doesn't.) If you are in that situation yourself, leave. Don't ruin your own mental health for someone else who's threatening to harm you or themselves. It doesn't work like that. Remember, they need help but not from you.

Can someone suggest bl/gl stories about exes getting back together or like lovers reunite after a period of time apart or something like that, thank you in advance.

BL manga, looks somewhat old school. Has quite a bit of chapters (like 15-30 idr). The main character has black hair, huge under eyes (I forgot what it's called), short, apparently has a "angry/scary" looking face that scares everyone.
The other character is more popular and tall, handsome. Tbh I forgot what he looks like . Non black hair, straight hair.

The plot: mc finds a love letter in his locker, reads it and falls in love because it's written so well or something. The other mc has the same name as a guy in his class that the mc mistakingly thinks sent him the love letter, he later confronts him about it telling him that he was the one who actually wrote it and they end up getting along pretty well.

Oh yeah, he finds the ml cute despite his apparently scary and average face/features.
