If you don't like the theme of the story, then don't read it. Simple as that. That content is not for you to consume. But don't go around policing people on what they should read or not because taste in stories vary. The characters involved are not real people, so what harm will get on their way?
I've read fictions that contains dark elements. Even checking the profiles of the authors. And to tell you, they DON'T condone this in real life. That is not to say I speak for everyone. But all the authors I've checked is not okay with it.
Us readers also have a responsibility on what content to consume. I, as a reader, is fine with reading stories that is fucked up. But I don't, in any way, support these happening in real life. I don't want a real, living, person to be put in situations such as this. And if some of y'all can't distinguish fictional and realistic, then the problem is on you.
