Is this ANOTHER timeskip?? How can anyone stay invested in a story that deliberately doesn't respect their time? Some people might correlate that with "But wouldn't cutting out filler and getting to the point be considered respecting your time and not wasting it?" Not necessarily, it's literally skipping any incentive to care about any character past their childhoods. There is no buildup to their relationship, there is no clear character arcs, no intrigue or conflict to keep you hooked. It's not respecting my time because I don't feel even reading this far warrants any investment if it's just all gonna resolve conflicts and attach ideas to the story OFF SCREEN. There's nothing here; this reads more like a much longer than usual anthology series, and this is just one of the stories in the anthology. I don't know what the author wants to do with this story, but it's confusing the sh*t out of me, for sure.

The pacing for this feels so off. I don't know what it is, but the characters feel like cardboard cutouts right now. I think it's trying too hard at splitting up the perspective and the heart of the story is suffering for it. The only reason I care to comment about it when I usually I just turn my brain off is because I really enjoyed this authors last work, so I'm still hoping it improves somehow. I still have hopes.
