This backstory is wasting time 30+ chapters that could've just been a single one. The audience doesn't need to know the minutiae of Brian's life. We do not need to know how exactly he built all these cities and brought peace to the land. Not one thing here will be needed after the backstory section is done. The author really fucked up imo with including this section and making it as long as it was when all the audience really needs to know is the backstory of the dragons and what killed Brian. Idek if I even want to continue bc this season has been pissing me off so much and apparently we don't even get back to Ian until season 3 so like. I read this for Ian not this ugly blue hair and pronouns fraud Brian what kind of name is brian why would an ancient man be named Brian Brian is like surfer dude bro kind of name not ancient dragon prince consort or whatever the fuck

"Parasocial feelings"? My guy, Ian is the main character, you are supposed to be attached to him. It's not that I don't appreciate the world building, I don't appreciate how the author wrote season 2 to barely have the main character around. I get that Brian technically is Ian but they have different personalities and motivations and are also different people. I think it is completely fair for a reader to dislike not seeing the main character of a story for over 30 chapters, especially when the readers are already invested in Ian.
I don't think the flashbacks aren't inherently bad either. The author is a very skilled writer and that shines through, I just think that the flashbacks would work much, much better if they were spread out and not dumped in a single season. My main reason for thinking this way is that the present day plot has not moved, and it is natural for a reader to see that lack of progress and feel bored with the story. You do not have to agree with me on any of my takes as they are *my* opinions alone. I am not trying to convince you of anything, you do not have to agree with me.

You should re-read season 1 after reading season 2. Cause every think Ian feels toward Sol during the building of their relationship is like “Deja vu” or like a “Familiar thing”.
Even the little kid recognizes that the power held by Ian was similar to Sol’s while he admitted his was different. Every little details in their interactions serves as “cue” to lead us to understand that actually Sol and Ian was bonded. Ian personality isn’t that different of Brian’s, they’re both restless, stubborn, loyal to their beliefs and with a strong sense of justice. The major difference is that Ian was always rejected and invalidated for simply existing.
But atp it’s your loss to not understand that this author want to make a story with near 0 plot hole. I’m very grateful for season 2 cause it explains the very deep bonding of Ian and Sol.

Mostly me ranting since my friend won't listen to me but novel spoilers ahead, proceed with caution!! Non-spoiler tldr: novel at least falls off, too much filler, annoying miss
I finished the novel recently and I kind of, sort of,,, hated it. The characters are really lacking in any chemistry. Every conversation is so damn awkward, not even in a fun way, and my eyes end up glazing over.
They will get together pretty soon (<10 chapters I think) but their dynamic when they're in a relationship is even worse than when they were just friends. Jigu and Yeowoon refuse to actually have a proper discussion about their boundaries and refuse to even try clearing up their very obvious misunderstandings. Like. Yeowoon knows they are not on the same page but never tries to communicate for no reason. There is literally nothing stopping him. Not one thing (mainly bc there is no plot but I'll get to that). Instead, the readers are left to suffer this contrived conflict because the author cannot be bothered enough to write a proper reason why.
The main reason I hate this miscommunication is because it results in Jigu forcing himself to do something sexual just because he thinks it will please Yeowoon (it doesn't). Their first explicit scene is general is awful. They're both awkward af and neither of them are fully into it bc no one in this damn story can communicate like a grown adult.
The second explicit scene is even worse imo, since Yeowoon never tries to speak his mind during sex and is literally afraid of having sex again bc of how painful his first time was. Idk how the audience was supposed to find the scene or their relationship appealing when we have to sit through paragraphs upon paragraphs of of Yeowoon in agony.
Jigu is so rapey too? He saw Yeowoon asleep and was like "I should just have my way with him since he can't run away/deny me now" which is ???? So fucked up???? That was the point where I didn't even want them to be together anymore.
About the plot now: the rest of the novel was such a fucking slog to get through. I read around the last 40ish chapters and I end up skimming over so many scenes because they were just in the game with Nothing Happening. No plot, no character development, no relationship development. Nothing. The game is ultimately pointless most of the time they're in it and I couldn't give a fuck anymore. Out of those 40 chapters maybe 20 of them were useless game chapters, and only 2 of those chapters had any development between Jigu and YW.
I think that's all my thoughts. Idk if the manhwa will be any better but the content in the novel itself sucks ass so I don't have many high hopes. I was so utterly obsessed with this manhwa when I read it but it's so disappointing to see how meaningless the final story ended up being.

Omg you’re more brave than me… I tried to read the novel like six months ago and just couldn’t do it anymore lol. I don’t know if it was the translation or if it stems from the native language, but it was BAD imo. I stopped after reading like 15~20 chapters from where this manwha left off back then. I really hope the story differs from the novel. I have some hope that it will, since the comic version is much better than the novel.

I'm <10 chapters away from finishing the novel and it fell off the manhwa seems better overall so I'm praying it saves the story bc I can't handle losing this

Novel spoilers ahead, be warned!!
There's wayyy too much filler of the mcs in game where 0 plot or relationship development happen. Like at least 10 whole chapters of nothing. Out of the countless game scenes in the last forty chapters of the novel only one (1) deepens their relationship.
They just got together where I am in the novel, and they're still having so many stupid miscommunications even though there is NOTHINGG stopping them from just talking it out. YeoWoon knows Jigu has the wrong expectations for the relationship but never sets the record straight because the author needs to force conflict. Everything feels like it's happening just because the author needs it to rather than the plot being caused naturally by the character's actions.
In the novel they also have? No chemistry? It feels like they're two strangers who have a gun to their head and are forced to interact. Their first explicit scene was so damn awkward too bc Jigu keeps forcing himself to like bdsm when he so obviously doesn't, and YeoWoon goes a long with it when he also can tell that Jigu isn't fully into what they're doing. I kind of don't even want them to get together anymore bc of how icky their relationship feels to me
I may be blowing this out of proportion cuz I'm super picky about what I read but I did really love this manhwa with all my heart so what I say doesn't come from blind haterism, but from genuine disappointment.
The end of chapter 9 targeted me I feel like crying again
