I’m just curious now, and have a genuine question: how are you able to consume any media? Almost every shonen manga has violence and murder. Tons of movies, shows, and video games have problematic elements as well. Most music is created and owned by horrible people. Do you not consume any of those either? Since they are morally wrong?

shonen manga ( murder violence) and pedophilia are 2 different categories. Shonen manga with murder doesn’t necessarily influence media to “kill” or to harm. But with Shonen manga, Manhwa, resembling pedophilia you can most definitely visibly see that people are used to it. You see it all the time with body pillows of young anime girls portrayed as children or disgusting art. “It’s not real it’s drawing on a page”. Literally if you haven’t seen what people say ab a young character and don’t think that’s very strange then i don’t know what to tell you, cause if they can do it with a drawing they most definitely can do it with a human. Now i’m actually curious on wether you support this or not, or what your thought process really is cause..

Also in the anime it’s literally portrayed that majority of the teen cast ( megumi, yuji, nobara) are seen as gojos kids if not older brother figure.

Pedophiles existed before Gojo x Yuuji existed. If you're making a case that this ship or this doujinshi is turning people into pedophiles then you'll have to cite sources and show proof. Because I personally believe that it's attraction to real-world children that makes pedos, well, pedos, and not "reading a doujinshi about a certain teacher and his certain minor student". If Yuuji was made 18 or Gojo was made his senior schoolmate instead, shippers would still like the ship. Because it's the characters that they like. Yuuji's main appeal is his personality, while Gojo's is his appearance/strength.

If your case is that "Gojo x Yuuji weakens people's moral bottomline and allows pedophiles to blend with non-pedo readers", I'd say that shippers (at least the mature ones) are actually aware of the things you're pearl-clutching about. We're aware that minor student x teacher is bad, that pedophilia is a crime, and that if this is a real-world situation it would be condemned. But we like the ship because fiction is a safe space. It's pretty much the same way some rape victims consume rape media — because it allows them to process the trauma in a safe space.

Heck, if budding pedos would turn into fiction instead of harming real-world children then that would be so much better.

And if your case is that "Gojo x Yuuji shippers are pedos or budding pedos"...be aware that you sound like those folks who claim video games make kids more violent or that sex ed promotes teen pregnancy. -_-

I think you’re definitely blowing it out of proportion and how you take what was said. What the commenter was stating was how people were being weird about the ship and trying to make it sound normal when it’s not, because let’s face reality. a Grown ass man with a kid doesn’t look nor sound appealing regardless of personality. That opinion is valid, and i get what your coming from on how people like certain things but people trying to kind of normalize it and make it seem like it’s normal is weird as fuck..

No, I don't think they were saying that "people were being weird about the ship". They were saying that the ship itself is weird and morally wrong (because of the characters' ages) and implying that there's something wrong about the people who like it.

I do think it's perfectly ok to feel uncomfortable about the idea of "a relationship between a teacher and a minor student". But what I don't think is ok is going beyond that — to come into the comment section of the work and make assumptions about the moral character of the people who like it. I've already seen a fair share of comments here who are just one step away from calling everyone pedophiles.

Shippers are not a monolith. If you say that people are trying to "normalize" this kind of relationship in real-life...I'm assuming you mean people you've seen online.

Let's say you saw something like: "It's fine if a high school teacher hooks up with their student as long as they're as hot as Gojo"

I wouldn't be surprised if a Gojo x Yuuji shipper said that at all. But I also believe that a comment like that would come from an immature teenager/minor, who hasn't had enough experience to understand what they're really saying. I trust that the adults (and heck, the more mature teens) know better.

I think you and OP (and the rest of the "anti"-shippers) are coming from a place of concern at the end of the day. But you have to understand that for a lot of us, Gojo and Yuuji's ages are an afterthought. They're like Barbie dolls that the fandom can imagine into different backgrounds, occupations, ages, dynamics, and universes. JJK is just the "canon" setting that's used as a foundation and introduction.
