She became a better fighter in the 2nd season. the first season starts slow because Rykell doesn't want Maybelle to do anything and just wished to enjoy their new life. But Maybelle got the talent as a future archmage, She could make a stone golem alive and turned it to a real drake just by wishing for it and get a very powerful magic staff in this season.

she is actually awesome by default because both of her parents are part of the strongest archmages in the empire, but her aunt and uncle couldn't teach her because she doesn't need to use magic formula at all except for grand-scale magic. SHE LEARNED MAGIC THE WRONG WAY.

Maybelle and her late mother are "hostages/proof of loyalty" to suppress Rykell (remember the chains?). Maybelle will save another child with the same fate as her
(the nephew of another archmage imprisoned in the palace).

Rykell will lead a rebellion of mages & heroes and Maybelle will join him when she is strong enough (the novel still ongoing and the current maybelle is 14, a capable mage and an empath)

What about her personality tho? Does she keep being a goody-two-shoes i cant kill anyone ~ kinda spineless average mary sue or does she actually get any personality at all?

she still the goody two shoes, but braver and won't back down from a fight (she'll fight Claudel in the next season, and managed to hold herself against the emperor before Bellerophon arrives).

Her main feature is compassion lol, she'll fight to protect but if possible she will look for a non-coercive way (because almost all of her enemies are manipulated/forced by someone).

Maybelle's personality is the same as her mother, a friendly elf who made a good impression even after her death, and many people willing to avenge her death (trivia : galatea's fans usually despise Rykell lol).

believe it or not, RYKELL actually has the same mentality. he won't kill except if it is necessary (war) and he looks for a way to minimize the victim when he truly rebels.

the times when maybelle truly angry are only this :
- when Transcendental of the west warned her that Bellerophon, Kan, and Abel is dangerous and wonder why Rykell let them live in the mansion
- when the emperor told her how Galatea met her end. Maybelle attacked him in fury, transforming the little tit into a predatory bird in the process XD, and the nature actually supports her (she is a half-elf so she has a good affinity with nature-based magic)
- when the emperor tried to stop rykell for destroying the imperial palace (the chain on Rykell's body shook and broken for a moment)
- When she learned about Bellerophon's history (how he became a beast)
- when Fire Golems want to take Bellerophon by force from her. she really wants to take them down and thought that they are unvorgivable... fortunately she managed to control her anger and choose to listen to their story..
