I saw this edit on IG but it refresh before I could save it.
It was a colored manhwa
So it had a text abt the MC thinking he was gonna spend his 40s alone or smth and then cut to it saying he meets this person with a big age gap, follow with a sequence of panels of him with the ML
MC had brown hair and glasses and ML had black hair I think . And the artstyle was very unique, like think sketch style but with a warm earthy color pallette
I tried looking for it but I only have the age gap as clue and got tired of digging through the age gap tag ╥﹏╥

Pretty and slim guys with mid length or long hair but that specifically wear it on a ponytail or bunლ(´ڡ`ლ)

Hear me out, I use to think
MC = main character
ML = main lead
But apparently it's not "main", is "male"
Also for me whoever the story was told from was MC so, if the protagonist is the bottom he's the MC, if it's the top, he is gonna be the MC
But people don't see it that way(? Like i had arguments before abt how a MC (top) felt forced to have sex and the replies I would get was that i was wrong bc the MC liked being fingered (meaning they were calling the bottom the MC). And just now read a comment on a story that's told from tops POV but the person was referring to the bottom as the MC
Am i the stupid one here? Did i misused the terms all the time? Or are people just using MC as bottom and ML as top all of a sudden?
you're not stupid, the others are. they consider the top to be the 'male' lead, and that's why they keep misusing the terms. u used them right though
Welp, ML is the counterpart of FL. ML is the love interest of the main character lol
no ur right. (tho i always thought it was male lead not main lead). call me crazy but i swear its because yaoi fetishizers want to insert themselves into the role of the bottom so they always want the bottom to be the mc. ive met ppl who refuse to read a story solely because its from the tops pov. which okay i get ppl have preferences but it gets to a point yk like why are u as a straight woman wanting to insert urself into a mlm relationsip as the bottom.
Ok. Stupid of me for not clicking the '+' button HAHAHA! You are right. Don't believe them (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
nah you're spot on. i also partly blame the authors cuz why is it that *most* of them are from the bottom's pov...
Just cuz most BLs are from the bottoms pov, mc just becamse synonymous with bottom. And I don't think most readers care enough to think about it thoroughly before they leave a comment.
To add on, didnt mc/ml become popularized because the argument was that referring the characters as seme/uke, top/bottom, was disrespectful? But since mc becamse synonymous to bottom, and ml as top, the point of these terms are kind of pointless again?
