The uke is still really young (20). Of course he could move on but this is his childhood love and he hasn't had any chances to meet someone new. He seems to have low self-esteem and convinced himself that no one could take an interest in him so he's limited himself to having (shitty) sexfriends.

this author is the BEST. The absolute best. Every story goes above and beyond in terms of emotional intensity, and character design.
