i love this author ,,, theyre (i think they’re a guy? i’m not sure) so good at writing these characters, making them seem like real people and not just people in some kids cartoon. they have flaws and they have arcs. they aren’t one-dimensional, and i appreciate the hell out of that. the topics this story talks about even shocked me. talking about issues like homophobia and biphobia isn’t super rare in these types of manga, but the fujioshi thing was first for me, and it was nice seeing that (lowkey refreshing, too. it was a nice lesson for some people out there, i think). they’re not just writing some story we’ll forget about soon, they’re telling us a fucking story. a good one, too.
the characters themselves are also beautifully well done, too. as i mentioned before, they’re written like real people; full of flaws and redemption arcs. they feel real and that’s what makes them so good. they’re also easy to relate to, like with feeling that you’re not good enough for someone or like you want someone to like you back.
“please treat me with disrespect” is such a powerful line
