Hetero has a positive conatation as opposed to straight, these days (from what I know atleast). Heteros are more "allies" people who are not queer but still accept the LGBTQ+ spectrum but straights are the "eww gays" kind of people xD.
Your friends are probably not that serious in their hate towards the straights because let's be honest the strai......
