1) They aren’t going broke - the correct trans is Lee Bin asking Lee Hwa if he has enough allowance. Lee Hwa replied saying he had enough from the part-time job he had. Hwa Geok responded saying even then, he should just take it whenever it (offer of allowance from dad) was given.
2) lecture hall scene (set in Korea). Student remarks that Hwa is quite respectful even though they are all in the same year at school. He says that’s how he was brought up. Someone else responds saying they (parents) must be strict, Hwa says no they are open-minded. Someone else replies it must because they are American. He says no, they are both Korean.
