Don't know if this is good later on, but maybe it could have had a GL route. Cuz why not? Maybe there could be something which could help detect the disease Ophelia was suffering from and would help with the cure, even if it was unknown. And they just have a sweet home at some scenic place, away from the hustle and bustle of gossip mongrels and royalties and get to live at a nice countryside with no discrimination about marriage.
I sometimes wonder if there could be normal endings as well instead of happy or bad endings in these kinds of plots, like fl continuing her commoner life and visiting her foster parents in between and the ml treating her as a friend, while the other two get a bad ending themselves in unexpected ways. This plot isn't exactly hopeless, but a bit more background would have made it fulfilling.
