Even if the novel wasn't sad, the translation was so beautiful that it would have still brought tears to my eyes.

I don't remember much about it but it was a bl. One of them, I'm assuming the seme, was color blind and only saw in black and white until he ran into the uke. He could only see colors around him, I think. I do remember the color blind one was wearing construction clothes or similar at one point in the very beginning
