Why call it “side stories” when it should really be another season if you’re gonna be bringing up all this new drama. Side stories should be reserved for after /all/ of the main plot points have been resolved and all that’s left is fluff. It’s just gonna be rushed if you do it this way. Will Karlyle ever get to stop being anxious?

I stayed up all night to read this, and there were so many moments where I thought the story would redeem itself, but it. Just. Kept. Getting. Worse. There are very few stories where I feel so many emotions for a character. Ercella, I wish I could rescue you from this awful story.

It feels less like a mutual relationship and more like Karlyle is being pushed into everything out of fear of losing Ash. It doesn’t feel like Karlyle has grown out of his anxiety, and part of that is his personality, but part of a story is character growth and we haven’t really seen that. It’s the /side stories/ for god’s sake, and he still can’t speak his mind. The story is almost over and he’s still the same. I don’t feel any sexiness or love in this anymore, only Lyle’s anxiety and fear.

I agree!! But i also want to say Lyle did clearly communicate that he didn't want to in this chapter and he very clearly said he was uncomfortable with it but Ash ignored him!!! That teaches Lyle that whether he says no or not is useless because Ash knows best. I agree that Lyle should be more firm but he really does have growth & he is genuinely trying ... and I can't believe Ash never talked to his friends OR apologized to Lyle on behalf of them. What Lyle needs is to grow his self worth so he can be firm and literally tell Ash "no I will not walk into this store with you. I told you I didn't want this. I'm going home." And then just walk away a dream...
I want to add an annendum to say what I meant was although he didn't say it he expressed it very clearly with his body language / polite refusals & rebuttals so Ash KNOWS he doesn't want to do it but is ignoring the fact that he's clearly uncomfortable and said he doesn't want to be punished. Ash is taking advantage of Lyle's nature/ people pleasing upbringing which is soo irritating bc it's not like he's unaware of what Lyle is communicating he just dgaf
Totally agree with what you’re saying. Both Ash and Lyle need growth, it’s not just Lyle being a pushover. Ash definitely needs to chill tf out and consider the fact that Lyle is clearly stating he doesn’t want to do this!!

Thank goodness, I wasn't the only one. They are a cute couple and all, but I felt iffy about the whole thing.
I was hoping for an apology from Ash too after the Hazel situation because he did hide his shitty ex from Lyle. But we didn't get too see that, although Lyle was happy with them making up so I was like, okay fine.
Then suddenly, Ash is in a way trying to coerce/manipulate Lyle into telling him why he's acting weird by getting "punished" with sex toys (which Lyle is uncomfortable with btw), instead of just asking him like a normal person in a relationship.
I love them both to bits and I hope they end up happy together but the side stories kinda suck a bit and they don't sit right with me.
