The only person who was on mc's side was a sunbae of his, whom mc fell for, but even him turned out to be a fake, doing it for his own interest. He was an illegitimate son of mc's rival gang family, he was ignored and cast away. He was contacted by mc's father and he's willing to go to their side.
Now it's the backstory of how mc first met the guy protecting him, mc doesn't remember him tho..

Rereading a couple chapters back, so mc confessed to sunbae but he knew he was rejected just by the look on the sunbae's face.
The main two met when they younger, at an orphanage where that guy was harshly abused by the director. He eventually managed to get away from there by attacking the director and asking mc's father to take him in (as he was already there as a major donator, I think)

Mc's father held mc's friend (the one who was overly worried about him) captive, so mc had to sneak out from ml's protection and went to rescue his friend.
