And then the MC died. The end.
Well...I suppose there are other possibilities...
1) MC's dead. The end.
2) Despite everything, the other guy dies, MC is left standing, shocking everyone!
3) MC's body plummets into the water, other guy does a victory lap - but no, MC is not dead yet! Surprise leap from below and slash slash other guy is dead!
4) Other guy is the one who does a surprise leap from below! Slash slash - but, ah! You didn't think our MC was that stupid/unprepared did you?? Other guy is defeated anyway.
I just anticipated the one that was most likely, right??
(i.e. My comment isn't serious, just making fun of the "cliffhanger".)
Oh! I thought of another one!
5) He dies. But is reincarnated again! But this time in a swords-and-magic world, where he becomes an OP 5-year-old of a noble house, with a devoted furry-eared maid, happens to save a tsundere loli princess, rescues an elfin maiden from slave traders...but really just wants to stay low-key and not attract any attention.
It's a nice enough story, but the one sticking point I had (apart from hoping the kind sensei who got fired was ok) was how Kotaro told Suguru that he was OK with whatever he did to him. I was like, no, don't be OK with it! And it also felt like the author was condoning the abuse because that's how alphas are and omegas should just accept it. I didn't see any sign of Suguru being violent as an adult; first in-heat sex as a teen making him violent could be understandable but shouldn't be excusable or acceptable, and should be something that could've been presented as a thing he's supposed to overcome as he becomes used to dealing with his body's strong reactions as he matures. I didn't like the way it seemed something everyone accepted as a possibility and THAT was how his anxiety was resolved. I know he wasn't actually violent with Kotaro, but it was like it was left as an acceptable possibility.
I'm sooo glad I held off reading this until the story (or the first volume) was completed! Even though I was pretty sure of a "happy" ending, I spent the first half feeling uneasy, and for most of it I felt like throwing things at the screen and yelling "WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST APOLOGISE AT THE BEGINNING YOU BIG JERK!", and I think that would've all been too infuriating if I had had to wait for months for this story to resolve!
But in the end the journey to the resolution was bearable because I read it all in one hit - phew!
I keep glancing at this title in the updates list and thinking for a second that that old baseball manga finally updated...and then remember that was LAST Inning...
