They're kissing in an alleyway...and next page there's a man with a parasol peeking!

(Hehe, at least, that's how it looked at first glance.)

Aurinne May 23, 2018 1:08 pm

The only thing I didn't hate about the first/main story was the random new gay acquaintance who WAS NOT A CREEPY RELATIONSHIP WRECKER. Worship.

Apart from that...

Imagine it was boy-girl: He meets the girl. He falls in love straight away with her cute opening line and is determined to make her his. He befriends her to get close. He tries things like increasing contact to make her aware of him.
...He openly dates-or-pretends-to-date other women and even discusses it with the girl.
...And then sits around waiting for HER to finally take the courageous step of confessing.

What kind jerk approach is that? At best, that's some stupid mixed message he's sending her, at worst, he's coming off as a total player who only sees her as a friend. Even if he's also worried and scared to confess (and it didn't seem like he was that unconfident), why does he need to make things harder and more painful like that?

THEN you add the fact that this is male-male, so his love target is even less likely to think of himself as a realistic love interest when he's watching the guy date all these women.

Urgh. I just hated it, and was so disappointed it was Kanda Neko. :(

(Sorry if you liked it. Keep on liking it, it's just how I felt.)

To be fair, the seme asked him what the uke preferred (since the fairytale thing sounded like a pick-up line), and the uke chose friendship, yet went on to obviously long for the seme. So the seme did in a way kinda respect the uke's decision/mistake.
(And yeah, he could have told him he was interested in him from day 1, but there wouldn't have been a story otherwise, I guess.)

Oh, yes, I did forget that! It makes it a just little less urgh for me (because, seriously, it'd be hard for a girl to declare she wanted romance with a guy she just met, let alone a man, so I still don't like his follow-up behaviour).

But, now I will let it go, because, after all, it's Yaoiland in Mangaverse, and this is all reasonable behaviour there... ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

I rather agree with you, up to a point. If this was supposed to be a realistic scenario and not a romantic/erotic fantasy what you said would be true. The story can only get away with it because there's such a low expectation of realism in this type of story, even for yaoi. So it ends up being subjective as to whether or not the unrealistic behavior is a problem as far as the story is concerned. But it is ironic how often something of this sort is used as a plot device. That for the stupidest reasons imaginable being a first class jerk is in the end somehow supposed to be either romantic or loving.

I don’t agree with your opinion but I liked that you didn’t insult the opinion of others by adding stuff like, ‘I can’t believe you people like this’ or something like that.

Thanks! Yeah! I hate that! I wanted to vent because I was really disappointed in it, but it's not like I want to belittle anyone else for what they like or think (nor do I want to be belittled if our opinions differ). And I suppose if people liked this then it wasn't a waste of the scanlator's efforts, either.

"No! I don't want only a physical relationship!" *emotional*

"...Oh, you actually love me? Cool." *thinks about what to have for dinner*

(Where was his relief or joy or whatever in response to finding out it was mutual? How blase!)

    Oneechan May 21, 2018 12:07 pm

    ikr, kinda unusualXD
I think in his mind it was conformed that it was mutual by them having sex and uke being willing and not trying to leave

that is why he was confused and angry when uke didn't think it was mutual. his reaction here:

I guess that was enough for him, probably because he is a bit more animal like, so he gives more appeases to actions (and smells) then to just word, so he kinda didn't think he had to also say it and confirm it for his human partner ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

    :D I agree!

(...Yet I still found it a bit anti-climactic that Iori spent so much time angsting over things and and all that build-up then, once he finds out it's not just physical, he quickly acts like it's all as normal as brushing his teeth The End. Hehehe.)

Shiba-kun to Shepherd-san: A story of affection and devotion between a young convenience store worker and a german shepherd.

Oh, and the dog's owner is in the story, too.

Aurinne April 23, 2018 5:32 am

It's a lot simpler than I was expecting, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Aurinne February 15, 2018 7:00 am

Oh! So it's the older twin from the story about Souta Minami in Yubisaki...

Aurinne January 30, 2018 9:12 am

OK, I think I see why it's marked completed, maybe.
https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=61631

The decent quality, cleaned & decently-translated ones we've been getting here are still at vol 6. It's actually got 7 volumes AND there IS a scanlation group that has finished off vols 6 & 7 (I searched for them and found them on their fb site). However, they are low-quality scans and poorer-quality translations.

So, it's possible that the scanlation group who released the ones uploaded here will continue. Either way, this is not the end of the actual story.

Did other people interpret the ending (so far) differently to me, or did they just have a much stronger negative reaction anyway? I read this as Toua having instinctive rejection towards other people falling in love with him because they tended to always change afterwards (either becoming unreliable once he becomes attached/dependent or becoming more possessive etc.). He's aware that he has this problem, so, once he realised that he loved Jirou and things could get serious, he foresaw him hurting Jirou (who he knows is a great guy) and them hurting each other, so tried to end it. Jirou, however, realised that he didn't didn't mind adapting to Toua's deep-set issues. He therefore accepts TOUA'S declaration of love, but reassures him by lying that HE (Jirou) isn't in love and therefore they can stay together without hurting each other.

And Toua, who is in love, allows himself to be fooled, while kinda getting that Jirou's saying what he needs to hear - but it's OK so long as he doesn't definitely hear that Jirou is also in love with him and wants to be completely committed and loving and clingy and soppy etc. For me, I read this as Toua actually being fairly committed, and understanding Jirou's also committed, but it's more of an unspoken feeling rather than a declaration that ties them down. So, yes, Jirou still has to pretend, and Jirou still feels a bit insecure, and Jirou still isn't clear on how committed Toua is at first, but I was left with the feeling that time would show them both happily settled into and more secure in their really-dating-but-pretending-not-to-relationship, even though it'd take some time. So, I didn't react strongly to the ending like some people, even though it wasn't perfect for Jirou.

    Rainwater January 4, 2018 7:56 am

Exactly what I'm thinking! Toua loves Jirou as he mentioned a number of times but thinks Jirou is too good for him. Toua somewhat knows Jirou loves him and Jirou knows Toua loves him but they are both afraid their current relationship will be destroyed if there is any development.

Toua doesn't fuck anyone else besides Jirou at the end. He is a "special friend" and only does it with him. Mishima, Chieto and etc are only friends that drop by his house. They aren't fucking him.

    pigglypoof January 4, 2018 12:05 pm

I definitely didn't hate the ending. I'm just disappointed that it felt so incomplete. I wish there was another volume to nicely tie up the loose ends

    akuma_river January 4, 2018 1:50 pm

    Ditto.

They understand each other's flaws. Another thing is that Toua doesn't exactly cheat.

Ryuu was him trying to break things off. First trying it with him then making Ryuu do it and getting a feeling of hurt thinking of Jiro without him.

The orgy...he was like an alcoholic on a bender trying to self-medicate his issues and move on from Jiro.

But he still went back to Jiro. Even if Jiro didn't show up at the airport I think Toua would've tracked him down. He did say he likes to be the chaser.

But now they have an understanding and are loyal to each other. They in a committed non-committal monogamous relationship. Jiro doesn't want anyone else and Toua doesn't want to hurt Jiro.

    Toni January 4, 2018 4:28 pm

I’m glad that I was not the only one who interpreted the endiing that way.

    anon January 4, 2018 6:31 pm

Just read the last few chapters and I love how you were able to put my thoughts into such fluid paragraphs! It's funny how we usually interpret affection outwardly and require that sort of outward communication to feel inwardly secure ourselves as the audience. This read is sort of refreshing.
