please twins' character development arc ... this stupid villian duke and more emotional trauma trope is so overused :/ and . no matter how much u guys try to gloss over it . the twins have trust issues but they'll trust this random duke (who is very sus btw) and take in the butler he gives them ? I mean come on ... I understand that they might've felt some sort of comraderie with him but he could've even been lying to sympathize with them and that didn't cross their mind ? they had no problem believing the king and the princes were lying :/

well no, it didn't cross their minds that he was suspicious because he was good enough at acting trustworthy to fool the entire royal family, the only person who didn't trust him was the maid and that was because she walked in on something she shouldn't have. remember that the princes and the emperor trusted him- they weren't 5, the emperor was an adult, growing up doesn't mean having immediate trust issues, and the only reason he was portrayed as clearly sus was so the the readers could be clued in by his facial expressions and thoughts, and again, he gave them no reason to distrust him, did he? in their eyes he even introduced them to his son, so they wouldn't be lonely, and a man in a similar situation, if they had made his character design a little less like a stereotype
bad guy, and didn't clue us in by his facial expressions and thoughts i would have completely thought that he was trustworthy too, the only reason they seem stupid is due to the narrative style. and they only mistrust certain people when they're given reason to, they don't have trust issues with the maid, do they? only with their father, who abandoned them with their abusive mother, and even said that he would have killed them if his life wasn't at risk. I'm sorry for the rant and if it came off as aggressive

man you're right it's just .. so frustrating , I mean it's somewhat realistic for sure and my opinion was probs heavily influenced by characters in other stories that are self sufficient enough to be able to sift through good people and bad people as well as have enough power to keep themselves safe .. I personally would've automatically thought this guy was mad sus

sorry the other portion didn't upload so here's the continuation : I just think they should've at least been more wary as well . they've experienced the way people treat illegitimate children of the king and shun them like a stain under a rug , so why did they think some random duke would treat them so well for no reason ? he sends his son to play with them ? ok ig , but sending them a butler when they have PLENTY of household staff ?? especially one with a similar past ? that's just ... really suspicious :// thank u for sharing your views tho , it didn't come off as aggresive

Honestly, in my opinion it's just bad writing. Sure, you can come up with reasons why they do everything. There decisions on who to trust isn't all that logical and don' t make much of a pattern when looking at them all at once but you can explain it away with "trust issues" and/or "they are kids". But you know what is logical and has a pattern? The fact that every decision they make somehow leads to more drama. At this point it feels like what's happening is that the author decides a direction they want the story to go and then makes the characters choose the action that will turn the story that way. Which is why the decisions feel so off. People are hyper-focusing on the twins but the other characters are making dumb decisions too that don't make a lot of sense.
The really annoying thing is that I saw a comment thread on here a couple weeks back (so buried now) that mention they'd read the original and mentioned the differences. And by the sounds of it all the dumb stuff was never part of the original story.
sooo cute but mc was wack , no elaboration on his sexuality and so you're led to assume he's bi but his gf broke up with him ? why ??? and why did he just let his new lover use his ex's clothes ?????? and it was only THREE DAYS after the breakup ??????????? did they have a bad relationship or ?? ,,, I'm just left with so many questions
