People who are hurt emotionally and physically by loved ones most times crave that missing or lack of love. It’s a need for validation that the hurt and pain you went through was for a reason or that once they got it off their chest the love would follow. I can tell you this first hand with being emotionally abuse, it’s easier to say she needs to leave them than actually doing it. You always wonder “maybe if I held on a lil bit longer things would change” or “maybe they’ll come around if I do this” and sometimes you can shut down to them emotionally but still crave their warmth. It’s a hard feeling to explain.
When you attempt to receive warmth but only got shut down on. That led you to never do it again after that attempt... It just hurts holding everything in but you forced yourself to in order to protect yourself from being hurt again... From the inside you wished for that warmth but you know that its only a dream that won’t happen.

(Sorry in advance if I missed up names) I understand the story perfectly fine. Try reading from the beginning it will help you understand the flow of the story. From my understanding the kingdom as it is now is ruled by the emperor who was once apart of a team/party with the Maybelle father. So it was probably like your typical set up;
Hero - The emperor
Mage - Ryliek
Tank / Fighter - Kyle
Healer - Maybelle’s mother ( maybe )
And since he was the ‘hero’ or most capable to rule a country to ensure their complete loyalty towards him and the empire he enter a contract with them. They had to give up what they love most as proof of that said loyalty. Seeing as to Maybelle is the most important thing to Ryliek at that particular moment which is why she was given up to his brother. Normally it probably would’ve been her mother but my guess is that she died during childbirth.
On the subject on her powers, her trauma and all that. She was mentally and physically abused. Told her whole life she was incapable of doing magic. So naturally she would be scared and think she can’t do it. Though it’s only because her powers wasn’t naturally able to progress and grow. Maybe she subconsciously repressed it. Now to the fairies, there’s not much they can do besides encourage her. They are literally a flower. Not much help in the air. The sisters serves as a sense of comfort and encouragement in the story. I they are not useless. So far they will the be reason that Maybelle will have more confidence in herself.
Yep, the war is the starting point of the story. Rykell's generation consists of :
- Rykell himself (Archmage and leader of Cyclamen Family, also the guardian of the north territory)
- Galatea (Rykell's wife, an elf- high priestess/archmage who support the imperial family. She guard the south territory)
- Von Kyle (a descendant of war hero and the current strongest master swordsman in the empire)
- Margot Paranelly (Galatea's disciple, an archmage. she govern the eastern territory)
- Raul Crepundia (The lord of western territory, an archmage)
- Azathoth Pan Dragon (the imperial prince, now emperor. His mother sent him to war so he could improve his position among the imperial family, who want him dead so badly. He is an intelligent person, but somehow his personality changed after he got the throne. the antagonist of this story)
- The Chief of Atata Tribe, a suin with fire elemental power. She is Kanous and Alberg's mother
- Kanous, who joined the war as a child.
and the hero was actually KYLE. he got the most fame and he got a duke title.
Actually, Maybelle's mother was killed. Luther already implied that Galatea's death is a very violent one.
Rykell has 2 chains with different "hostage". The one is about his position as the strongest mage in the empire (with his wife, Galatea as the hostage). It is his main chain/restrain, Rykell couldn't use his power to the fullest and must obey whatever the emperor demands to him. Somehow the pesky chain still exists after Galatea's death, meaning that there is more problem behind it.
and the other chain is the deal he made with both emperor and cyclamen so Maybelle won't be killed after Galatea's death, but Rykell unable to visit his daughter at all, and he lost his position as the head of Cyclamen family. maybelle is the "proof of loyalty". Maybelle broke this chain when she ran from cyclamen's main house.
in Maybelle's generation :
- Maybelle (the future archmage who wants to erase ALL of bad magic and free her father from the covenant)
- Bellerophon (Rykell's disciple, a boy with a very problematic background who suffered a brutal experiment thank to his father. Now he is the host of a malicious beast contaminated by evil force, and Rykelle protected him from any harm and sealed the monster.)
- Abel (kanous Brother fox Suin, the wielder of fire elemental power in his generation. He left his village after he accidentally burnt a family member with his uncontrollable power. he chooses Maybelle as his future master)
- Aslan (the heir of Hero's family, a future master swordsman who need his own legendary weapon)
- Laney/Raney (Duke of the West's nephew, he suffered the same torment as Maybelle and imprisoned in the imperial palace as Raul's proof of loyalty. Maybelle will rescue him in 2nd season)
- Vivia (a suin lady and a relative to Kan and Abel. Maybelle's first female friend)
Maybelle's pets :
- Ridere/riri : a magical bird, it is a manifestation of Phon's mana which gained personality. Bellerophon could use the bird to track and communicating with Maybelle.
- La sol : The red drake born from a golem. It is not a golem anymore and became a true drake.
- Ig : the fox creature born from the monster egg (rykell gave it to Maybelle in ep.3, it hatched in season 2). Maybelle usually borrow the stealth skill of this fox to hids herself
It will be revealed that the "covenant" is an ancient ritual, and the first purpose is completely different from the current. Rykell will explain this to Maybelle in episode 53.
The first oath was proof of trust and loyalty from Archmages to the first emperor (who turned out to be a brave and kind-hearted woman). they did it voluntarily. Years later, the imperial family used it as a warning and shackle to the mages in fear of rebellion and ensuring their absolute loyalty.
be prepared to get sick with chains in this story. even Maybelle will experience the horrible pain in the 2nd season

based on the spoilers I read from a forum, Bellerophon got the most development in his relationship with Maybelle..
So this is what a story feels like without 30 chapters of unnecessary drama which could’ve been solved if the main characters talked to each other properly...

I’m not liking how he’s playing around. That’s how shit spread even though they don’t exist in manwha’s.
I feel like he’s going to go after Asumi just so we the audience get to see Naruse actually jealous and experience how Asumi felt. Though I feel it will be different bc Asumi is more aware and not easily swayed. He might attack Naruse tho , hitting his insecurities. But then again he might be a new friend!

I have no personal opinion on this but I just want to clear this up yaoi ≠ rape . It shouldn’t be needed to farther a plot. For those who do condone it by saying it’s the genre therefore it’s okay needs to get it together because it ain’t it chief. I like the series and the plot but some of the scenes I’m like “um no” and that’s okay.
