She tells him and he is under the belief that they can't have children together due to biological factors. Therefore whatever he said about her running away with another man is probably him thinking that she had sex with another man.

So even though they are cared for very much and can easily take a day off if they don't want because they aren't feeling it, satisfying themselves would make them not do it with the customers anymore way more frequently.
