You can fall in love with someone you hate and it's the worst feeling i swear

Im gonna vent a lil bit :')
I also experienced those two so i completely get it but none of those felt worse than realizing I've ran away from the only person who's loved me back. It literally took me two years to realize what I had done, i don't really have a way to reach out to him either so it feels even worse.
I don't have a single good memory about falling in love, it's not something in your control either so i have no idea if I can hate being in love or not but currently even the thought of it is disturbing to me.

Even if you can't go back now, it taught you a lesson. You are now able to see what you weren't able to at the time, so.. even if there are situations you can't repair, thanks to that learning you can do better in the future. Forgive yourself, and fall in love again! You may not have good memories about it, but that's probably the consequences of falling in love with the wrong people. When it's the right person, you don't feel like that...
You shouldn't fear love, nor hide from it! If you do, you might miss out on great things and realize it too late once more. I mean... What's done is done, but you're still worthy of love, so don't miss out on your chances for focusing too much on the past, and don't be so hard on yourself

Is anyone else curious abt which year the story is taking place? Im confused here
There are a two things that spesifically stood out to me:
We saw both jake and shin use iphone 5's so it would make sense if it's the early 2010s. Idk about shin but i imagine Jake would have a high end phone. I cant really say that for certain tho since theres one thing that ruins my theory:
Jake's car. Its a McLaren 570GT which was -i believe- introduced in 2016. So the year were looking for cannot be before 2016 but the iPhone 5 is already pretty old in 2016 so im getting even more confused.
I may just be looking too into this i dont know
WDYM BRO RAN AWAY
Technically it’s a smart move. He just pissed off like three different gangs and leaving Ross alive means they will know he was involved. So leaving makes sense for safety purposes.
