Never seen a rape kit done in a manhwa ever it’s so refreshing, I didn’t catch this as well the first time I read but I like to think of the first part of the chapter as a sort of contrast (maybe foreshadowing?) of what is happening to Brett. It was an unconsentual kiss to the detective via Brett, one dirty and ridden with ill intent. That one kiss mentally broke the detective, causing him to lash out and try to forget the incident by coping with his boyfriend. We take this with Brett’s own apathy concerning the rape, it’s jarring.
But we can also see how after such action, the detective sought out someone he cares about to comfort him, paralleling what Brett is subconsciously doing, going to Hayden. It shows more of Brett’s affection towards Hayden even if he himself doesn’t understand it. My poor boy learn to love and be sad (it doesn’t help that it seems like his father is the same way smh)
