This seemed so good and interesting. After reading the novel spoilers though I’m dropping . I can’t deal with these types of plots
Okay, so i dont know exactly what happened as I read the spoilers too.
The ml helps mc to free himself from the duke's imprint and they get married. After that the mc learns that ml was actually a noble from his city, but had been exiled during some rebellion. Ml wanted to take revenge on the kingdom that's why he asked the mc to marry him.
Then ig the mc agrees to help ml in revenge and dies. Then he wakes up before the time ml was exiled (when ml was a noble) and helps ml not get exiled. (I don't know what happens after but there is a lot of things that happened after this too)
One of the best BLs I have ever read. I know this is based on a novel, but u can tell the author thought through every step. Re-reading it I can see the foreshadowing, the character development, the great pacing of the action scenes. And most importantly it is interesting as fuck. So many Bls are bad porn, with no plot but sex scene after sex scene. This one however, kept me on my toes, and honestly I was excited every week for a release. I’m going to miss it
I would say the love story is good in my opinion. Not to spoil to much but I wish the groveling lasted longer lol. I think it’s just I have been reading BL for years at this point, almost coming up to a decade and most BL plot lines are bad/boring/constantly done. This one felt like a breath of fresh air. If you only want romance you probably aren’t going to like it, as the plot/action takes up a big chunk of the writing.
So, i just binged this, and near the end I started to see that Hugo is a controlling asshole (forces Lucia to get treatment when she doesn't want to, displays controlling behaviors such as pretty much forcing her to stay at home and away from men. Has unhealthy outlets for his anger as he throws a cup at his worker, and murders people without any regard or care, all portrayed in a romantic and loving manner). But that line, that he is crueler on the natives (as well as the language they use, constantly calling them barbarians) than enemy armies (remember, the Tartans moved to the north and staked their claim there) hit waaaaayyyyy to close to home for me given the history of indigenous communities all around the world, and the way that some indigenous communities to this day still face ethnic cleansing by outside groups.
If you want a male lead who isn't an abusive asshole who murders people and then tries to make you pity him with the bs cliche "I'm such a monster trope' this isn't the webtoon for you.
I have a 100 chapter rule. Meaning if it is less than 100 chapters then it is probably a well developed fleshed out story and this one issss!
