WHY are so many people siding with characters AGAIN The whole point of this manhwa is that we’re so used to see morally grey characters being portrayed as the “villain” whereas the morally good characters are always shown as the great hero. This is about real life. None of them, neither Skylar nor Cirrus, are here to be belittled or completely villainized. Cirrus is NOT the “poor baby” who didn’t deserve to get called out like that by Skylar. I’m in no way saying that any of them deserved to be or to still get treated like that, but this is clearly just them showing how their individual traumas are backlashing towards each other.
Cirrus is so insecure about himself that he built up a complete wall between himself and his true emotions. It’s true that he never grew up receiving love or support, so how is he supposed to feel any kind of self worth when he lived his whole life getting rejected or abused by the people he loved most. The love he received from Skylar won’t just make everything vanish, but rather, it’d make it worse. Him knowing that he has someone who loves him (unconditionally?) for the first time just makes him believe that he has to be even more “perfect” and not talk about his troubled past with Skylar (specifically him taking Skylar to the amusement park so that they could come across Chan-il), that’s why he just blatantly lied to his face. He KNOWS that it’s wrong, but he thinks that > vulnerability about telling the truth leads to rejection. Not to mention the fact that he’s been manipulating Skylar to his liking for a while now. He wants to have the upper hand, otherwise he feels like a failure, or rather like he’s losing Skylar. Him and Candy being pretty much the only reasons that he’s still alive, which is anything but healthy Emotionally dependent much?
Skylar yearns for trust. His trust was once broken brutally and only now did he take a little step forward, wanting to believe Cirrus again. But his trust was broken yet again, which is one of the worst things for Skylar right now. He’s too closed off, refusing to let anyone know about his past.
4EVER A SKYRUS DEFENDER
It was pretty clear that this would happen, although it TRULY IS BREAKING MY HEART Their relationship is built off of lies, manipulation and some toxicity here and there. Think of it like a staircase. It crumbled before it could reach the top, because the material it was made out of was too unstable. The only way to reach the top is to build the staircase again, step by step. The first step being shattering the old staircase (= the “break up” that just happened). Now they HAVE to talk and communicate or just break up for good. But knowing that they’ll get a happy ending, I’m looking forward to how things will turn out. A lot of the fandom babies both of them too much, some will say Sky did nothing wrong when he did, but Sky’s reaction is perfectly normal when feeling betrayed, and it’s okay to admit that he did. Same for Cirrus, many undermine his actions’ and act as if he doesn’t deserve the consequences, when he does.
Of course that isn’t to say Cirrus is a bad person now, his past self was. It’s only his consequences that didn’t come till now, because Sky had not known.
What matters is that they are both struggling and doesn’t have a proper social support system. Honestly it feels like they only have each other, Cirrus is emotionally dependent on him and I remember he said that he would WAIT even if Sky doesn’t like him.
And Skylar coming back regardless of Cirrus’s action and giving him the opportunity to come clean. But then we see Cirrus lie (latest raw), and we can see both are anxious, waiting to hear from each other.
