There is a backstory to the blond character, showing when he got the tattoo. His mother died, his stepdad/dad started to abuse him, the dad took him to get the tattoo and then the dad either committed suicide or died in a house accident. I think the manga is called something like "Butterfly and spider's web". Quite a darker story in comparison.
