lol if she really wanted to, she could've done some part-time or something. honestly, anything. she would've had to face her guilt and shame and angry/hateful people, but she would've gotten through it. if she kept being honest and hardworking, people would've eventually decided to give her a second chance. but by locking herself up in her dirty lil room, her legacy of greed and ruin will remain a stain forever

I love how it's not just sunshine and sparkles. It's not just this new, unknown child being easily accepted into the palace and being like :O :D :O :D about everything. She still has some wild bits about her but it makes sense. Her cute sides also make sense. She's also not stupid. She knows her place in the world- now she's just exploring the rest of it. She's growing. I like this

Yall... them acting like that despite their mental age makes sense. Child abuse is traumatic, no matter what age you experience it, even as a reincarnated 18 year old. (Also, 18 year olds are still really young and emotionally/mentally unstable/growing??)
I think the bigger reason why people are like (● ̄(エ) ̄●) is because the reincarnation literally doesn't add anything to the plot. I mean, sometimes they're a little bit more mature than the avg 5 year old, like when they brought Ishina back. But otherwise?? They've made like no comments on how different it is from Earth or like no desires on wanting to go back. They've made no references to their past lives. Don't throw in reincarnation to a novel, especially if it already has a solid plot and solid characters, and then never bring it up again.

It’s probably there bc you can’t really write a story for teens/young adults from the viewpoint of a five-year-old ...
It lets them think about what is happening around them and experience the world more clearly. A normal kid can’t comprehend the world like an adult can. Also, no matter how abused someone is/was, it doesn’t make them ten years older mentally. A child would think and act like a child (well plus a trauma).
If you think from an author's point of view, reincarnation is actually almost the only way to tell a story from a children’s pov or with a child as a main character. So it’s not like the it doesn’t contribute to the story, rather it’s the reason the story even exists.
last time i was too focused on trying to decode the cryptic crappy translations, but now i see that the mom is actually an elf!! an elf!! that means mabel is part elf!!
