Writing fiction doesn't necessarily mean you should deviate from using irl logics. Radan has supernatural abilities since the genre of this story is fantasy. Even if the book is fiction itself, they used irl logics to give the characters the ability to think and decide. Radan has a different perspective since he was isolated from the world. Bro right here is being manipulated by his own family. He chooses not to kill them because he decides not to. They gave him false hope that Radan still had a place with them, which Radan also seems to be tempted by the idea because he's tempted to be with his family at peace.
