the author tweeted that the final volume will be "significantly expanded" so i really hope we get at least another 6 pages for the final chapter. the ending felt extremely choppy. i think the author really had a vision but im not sure why they wrapped it up so poorly. either way im glad this crazy ride is finally over LOL.
im all for a slow burn romance but i hope this series doesnt drag out her abuse for 20 chapters. the "intimate" scenes are so uncomfortable to read, and the fl is drawn in objectifying tight clothing every chapter. (which makes no sense considering shes supposed to wear "hag" clothes...) i swear every chapter her body looks more ridiculous. but im hoping for a good series regardless...
I think you're missing the point. It may be uncomfortable with the intimate scenes, however these moments are crucial for depicting the difficulty of escaping an abusive relationship. The story's slow burn emphasizes how the ex-husband's lack of respect for her manifests over time. From the beginning, he pressures, coerces, or assaults her sexually. It a sign that he see women as sex objects rather than human beings.
In the recent chapter, he manipulates her into believing he doesn't need to have sex with her, despite his past assaults and claims like "I won't do that to you." This manipulation makes her feel increasingly obligated to comply, fearing worse treatment if she doesn't. One of the obstacles to recognizing chronic mistreatment in relationships is that most abusive men don't initially appear as abusers. They often exhibit good qualities such as kindness, warmth, and humor, particularly early in the relationship.
It have to be a slow burn. The manhwa takes its time to carefully illustrate this dynamic, rather than condensing it into a few chapters. If you feel uncomfortable with that fact then it a sign that it show the reality of an abusive relationship and how horrible it is. The ex-husband's comments about her clothes being baggy indicate his changed perception of her, seeing her as a reusable sex object despite any perceived flaws. If her body makes you uncomfortable, that might be a personal issue to consider.
thanks for the summary but i already knew all of this LOL. just gonna add the uncomfortable part for me is the fact the sexualization of her character is supposed to be negative, yet the author draws her in extremely unrealistic clothing and proportions. anyone with tits knows thats not how clothes work, especially bc "stretched out" clothes dont hug u like that lol. iykyk im not gonna argue with anyone abt it i just think the stereotypical manwha body is gross in this context.
woobin's whole plan to embarrass her and get this revenge in this way is honestly so stupid. unless he's even dumber than i realized, he fully understands that suji was groomed into becoming a sociopath. even if he "destroys her life" she wont care, because she doesnt want to live either way. no matter what he does to her, hes not capable of really hurting her. unless woobin made a commitment to "humanizing" suji, and making her fully understand love/value living, he'll never win. shes fking crazy, and i love her for it.
so ur telling me the author of a long standing novel, the girl who tracked down her stalker, and someone who connected clues about her ex cheating suddenly goes braindead? so-ae is not at all supposed to be stupid, especially since she learned her lesson about ignoring the signs. feels like the author is intentionally dumbing her down to lead on the 2nd ml. unless the theory abt the ml's switching is true, i dont see why this misunderstanding has to continue. :/
the face dohwa makes when she revealed she sought him out as a business opportunity :/ this trope is so lame and such a waste of dohwa and suae's characters. this series overall has become incredibly cliche, 107 chapters of wasted potential. we shouldve gotten a university arc or literally anything besides this dumbass love triangle. dropping until the author comes to their senses.
