What I don't get is why are people doing tournaments when there are gates that needs to be closed. The priorities are wrong. They also made the mc seem really strong in the beginning but as the story continues, he seems average.
I think the tournaments are how they determine your level so you can do higher rated gates.

In the mc's eyes, killing someone is giving them mercy. Of course they have to suffer before they die first. So the mc wanted to mae the princess suffer and completely break her. I honestly hope he doesn't kill the princess but let's her live on as an empty shell of whatever she was.
