I love this character progress! Not just some time travel and change this and that. This part realistic as both of them suffer because of the past doing. And by chance they start to mend and learn each other character, pain and thoughts, learn to compromise, learn a lot step by step. Shown just like us, somehow still have doubt, cannot 100% trust, but through hardship can be shown the genuine intention (▰˘◡˘▰)

So he can’t show n express his feelings well. And yes communication... kyle and elan has poor communication, they keep assuming things on their own.
