And? Understanding a character's motivation to be trash, doesn't change the fact that he is behaving horribly towards another human being. So yes, you can hate the character, no matter his back story (which btw doesn't excuse his abuse). The fact that he's a realistically horrible character makes me hate him even more. The fl deserves better, period.

I don’t surround myself around people with your attitude, I’m a lesbian and I’m surrounded by other queer people. The only time we use that word is when we jokingly insult each other, we don’t use it to refer to people that are clear victims of abuse.
