He doesn’t find it funny. A lot of people smile in serious situations when it’s uncomfortable, it’s a kind of defense mechanism. I do this when I was dealing with mental health, I’ve recovered though but the trauma never goes.

I dont think he was uncomfortable or found it funny, I think he was smiling about the irony of the situation and couldn’t help smiling. I guess you could say he found it funny, but it seems a bit different.

I don’t think he found it the funny that people think of, but a lot of people in uncomfortable situation smiles or just to be less nervous , to help themselves calm down. I know many who smile to hold themselves back.

I’d say uncomfortable because he did not like Chan-il going up to him like that. Scared of Chan? No. He’s already seen his dad destroy stuff and he’s been beaten by his partner.

Yeah feels like they should've dragged it out more like have more panels emphasizing the hammering on his head side by side to the wooden spike to show that the more he gets hammered down not only does his head get battered but he also gets his ass torn apart simultaneously. The story should've been more cruel with it or have the bully have some self reflection that baits you into thinking he's realized bullying is bad only to slam right back into a victim complex where he thinks "all I wanted was to have some fun was that so bad, why would anyone even care about haruki, why is this happening to me" just to deter any ounce of sympathy you might feel for his pain or if the torture was more complex like in the other revenge manga "maria no danzai" where it's basically a SAW trap that kills you no matter how hard you try to escape.
