I just finished the main story and it was beautiful and I understand why the author wrote it that way.
For the way, Jiho lived his life kindness is very scarce. And I understand him a bit that sometimes the unexpected kindness comes from strangers and you cling to that kindness but also feel insecure and wary of it.
Jiho was saved by Woojung and Woojung gaving him a family. Woojung is truly patient and understanding of Jiho, as mentioned before I don’t understand his reasons of kindness or choosing Jiho. Is it really because he is pretty? On the surface it seems like so and I understand why people find it icky along with the age gap.
But I also feel like and sort of implied that Woojung experience the same things Jiho did. Feeling lost and unloved that made you do horrible decisions in life. I can’t say it’s a savior complex but I think Woojung with how he matures and becomes better as person feels like he needs to give back and he saw a reflection of himself in Jiho.
We can see Jiho is near breaking point either he takes his life or someone else. But we know he is a good kid just shaped by his circumstances, it’s not an excuse of course but with Woojung’s support and as Jiho said he found his world through Woojung starting with not looking down himself, giving himself a chance to try out things then he is on his way to heal. Woojung gave him a chance in life and that is important, to Jiho - Woojung is his anchor.
I don’t understand why people find it icky he is being adopted when in Korea there is no Gay Marriage. And for countries like that Woojung knows this is the best way to protect Ji Ho and give their “love” some of form civil rights.
