In life, as in this manga, people can't find happiness all in the same moment, and in situations like that one or two "have" to suffer in the present time. Anyway, as you can see from this chap or the first one, Nao has a suspect about the two, and Izumi either suspected his friend had feelings for her or she had feelings for him (because of how she's behaving in this chap too). I think in life when you try not to see or run away, things are gonna cone back. So, I'm not saying it's Nao fault, but ... You know...

When your path and opinion diverge that's what happen in life, your true love end and then the days and the years goes by like you're not living at all.
And what about Mari? We all know she was only throwing a tantrum and she would eventually come back being friends with him
I don't like huge time skips in general, especially in this case where the artist leaves their story hanging after a very crucial turning point in their relationship with no resolution other then a couple of quick summary panels. In this particular case, it feels lazy and it feels cheap to end their relationship on such a poor note and then skip four years later with some poorly tacked on conclusion that gets resolved in two chapters. It feels like pointless and unnecessary drama to draw out the story, but doing very little to give us the full weight of their struggle. It ends up being a cheap, rushed mess. The only acceptable time skip, IMO, is the one that happens after the HEA to see where the couple is currently.
I wouldn't have minded the time skip if the autor used a good number of chapter later where we can see how the characters resolve their problems. A lot of things can happen in 4 years. They need to talk. They've changed and they need time to accommodate with those changes if they want to work things out. But there's none of that here. They "resolve" their problems and fuck in 2 chapters. I hardly believe that's enough to cover for the time they've spent apart. I mean, they've been apart longer than together. It feels incomplete and rushed.
