Also do ppl realize that Haesoo needs far more time to reflect, than Joowon??
Joowon already had a lot of time by himself to think about his and haesoo’s relationship and what it means to him, and who he is as a person... Haesoo didnt properly get that. Instead he was too busy with Taku than getting the rightful self reflection he needed. Ofc he had SOME: enough to realize that he was unfair to Joowon and wrong for not telling Joowon his true feelings.... but he was not able to think about himself as a person because he was not alone. Thats why he asked Joowon to take some time apart. He obviously loves Joowon very deeply, but thats like not enough to make their complicated relationship magically work. I was upset about the timeskip but I understand it now
╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
I dont know why ppl are mad that Haesoo decided to take time by himself. Like thats literally what home boy needed?? He been through way too much, first with his and joowon’s fight and separation, and then taku and his manipulation and overbearing feelings, and ofc everything with his mom... like he’s been suffocating this whole series, it was GOOD that he wanted a break to improve himself.
It doesnt mean he doesnt love Joowon. But actually him deciding its better not to rush into a relationship with Joowon shows his maturity.
He knows he has a lot of baggage, a lot of emotional problems, some unhealthy coping mechanisms.... So yeah, him wanting to take time for himself is not running away from Joowon. He’s not trying to go be with other guys. He fully loves Joowon and ACCEPTS that he loves Joowon. Alsooo i have to add: the break was also for Haesoo’s studies. A key point in the story was how he always lacked selfsteem in his work and deeply envied joowon’s career. So yeah, he just wants to take a gap to work on himself, so like GOOD FOR HIM GOOD FOR HIM.
Now Joowon and him can start anew, and be in a healthy relationship <333 (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
Same! I have nothing against the 3 year timeskip bc it takes A LOT of time to really know yourself, discover your flaws and learn to embrace or fix or improve them. Not everyone can do it in like a month or a year. And I think he was also writing a book at the time? (I head canon he wrote the ordinary love story while he was thinking of J and their relationship while he was in Spain). I wish we got to see their conversation about it tho rather than the author merely showing a panel. But, as I’ve mentioned in my comment below, I’m hoping yeongha will show it through flashbacks in the future chapters (and also how Haesoo learned to love himself :’) )
I wasnt only talking to you but everyone who is saying this on twitter and such. I agree with some things you said about wanting more of Joowon’s perspective so that it doesnt seem like his whole life revolves around Haesoo. But I disagree that the time spent away is a contradiction to Haesoo’s character. I mean remember the break was also for Haesoo’s studies: a point in the story was how he always really lacked selfsteem in his work and deeply envied joowon’s career.
hmmm i guess i dont have a problem with the accident, cause i felt like the moment haesoo admitted to taku at the exhibition about why he cried and basically saying he cant let joowon go... So with or without the accident i knew the chapter of them admitting their love was coming. imo the accident was just for dramatic purposes
Like I said in Angie’s thread, we still don’t see how Joowon has developed as a complete person. What does he really have for himself to make him whole before He can fully enter a healthy renewed relationship. Everything he does or thinks revolves around Haesoo. His decision to act in the first place had to do with escaping reality for simple answers and happy endings. He was ready to throw it away, and then later renew his contract, all concerning Haesoo. Does he like acting, does it make him fulfilled? What else does he have to live for himself?
For a while I thought this might pull a Hate Mate. But then I came to understand the extent of Joowon's love for Haesoo, both in the past and present,, and how much he wants to be better for Haesoo and genuinely DOES become better, and braver, and ready to bare his feelings even if it means getting hurt or rejected. And I knew Joowon was endgame whew( ̄へ ̄)
Oh and also how Haesoo always thinks about him even with Taku. Even in that date Haesoo described as something that "should have been perfect" with Taku, his thoughts still wandered off to Jowoon. It was so telling.
For me, I felt okay about Hate Mate. I didn't love the ending, but I didn't hate it either. I felt like it was realistic and simply accepted it, as I wasn't hardcore shipping anyone really and just there for the mc.
With Loh though, yeah I would've been actually upset if Joohae weren't endgame. imo the story wouldn't have made a lot sense if it wasnt them... we've had too many chapters of them helplessly pining after each other for it to suddenly be like "poof! haesoo no longer loves joowon!". wouldve made no sense lol, the author clearly meant for them to be endgame
I was 99% sure that Joowon would be endgame the chapter he called Haesoo and told him that he'd always be there for Haesoo even as a brother/friend. He literally said "I'm just all yours" to HS. I knew in my gut then lol.
Why? Simply from how heartbroken Haesoo looked in that phone call and kept apologizing in his head. Haesoo HIMSELF knew he said the worst things to Joowon during their separation in chapter 57, even blaming him for the things he lost.... yet Joowon never fired back or tried to be cruel to him. He only showed desperation during their separation, and then called HS saying THAT? I was really like, "how is Haesoo ever going to get over you now" lol.
And my idea was only proven further and further, by Yeongha carefully picking apart Taku's role for Haesoo as someone who will "save him from his toxic r/s with his former step brother" lol. With Leo revealing Taku's nature of using his models, and then Taku admitting he wanted to guilt Haesoo into a relationship by using his sex tape... notice how those revelations were CONTRASTED with Joowon and Haesoo's highschool fight and bullying scandal. Joowon both in the past and present did not give a damn about his own dreams or career in those situations, and just wanted to desperately protect Haesoo and their relationship fullstop? He was so SELFLESS. So yeah, it all made sense then that he had to be endgame lol
As messy as this story was, it was clearly MEANT to be messy and Yeongha wrote it very well with clear purpose from the start. I just wish she hadn't rushed into a timeskip at the end /sighs/ Joohae developing their relationship into something healthy and new should NOT have happened off screen. We should have a good 10-20 chapters of their 3 year progression, maybe even going back and forth with Taku's story of meeting his new lover. I would've loved to see how Taku would approach a new relationship WITHOUT the toxic and manipulative intentions that he had with Haesoo, and showing how he's not a guilt tripping, selfish partner anymore.
Honestly as someone that's been on a bad trip, even with a drug thats literally harmless (i believe my anxiety was too bad when i took it) ....let me tell yall: drugs can FUCK YOU UP. It can make you do and think things you never ever thought of before: like self-harm and s*icide. or hurting other people. or erm... maybe assault like what's basically about to happen with suha here
And some drugs are ten times worse than others,, like what Jiwoon probably took.
