I’m also eager to see Haesoo’s evolution and how he can be an equal partner in every way to Joowon, now that he presumably has a better sense of self and is satisfied with his own achievements and trajectory. I think he came to realize how much he resembled his mom after they met in chapter 80 something and probably wanted to change. It’d be nice if he got a ring or some other token of his eternal love for Joowon, too, like what if they surprise each other at the same time.
I swear the ppl complaining at this point about characters being "toxic" are just mad their ship sunk (or they just hate joowon so much for some reason, judging by the comments).
Like. You really read up to NINETY SEVEN chapters, and youre saying this now cause...?? Makes zero sense when all the characters have become ten times less "toxic" by this point lol (honestly that word is so overused, it's vague and says a whole lot of nothing). All the characters are way more honest with their feelings. Theyre less manipulative, less vindictive, less apathetic and selfish, and so on.
Examples:
Haesoo actually genuinely tried in his relationship with Taku and was apologetic for being unable to return his feelings... the exact opposite of his first partner in chapter 1 of the story.
Taku stopped using Haesoo for his own self-interest, and genuinely wanted to be with him (like he said, at first he "just wanted to see the story haesoo would write about him when he was gone" but he developed real feelings for hs).
Joowon realized that he was wrong for never telling Haesoo he loved him, just because he was scared of being abandoned and losing out. He was mature and genuinely selfless for Haesoo. Joowon easily got the most character development in the story too.
Haesoo was sorry that he wanted Joowon to suffer and manipulated his feelings, and sorry that he didn't wish the best for his career.
Some don’t seem to realize that these characters have negative traits but because of the circumstances, interactions, and actions they’ve done up till this point, they changed for the better though it may not be prominent for others. It happens to people which is why we learn through experiences. We aren’t all inherently good and we fuck up most of the time. I swear all these “toXic” comments are fr getting annoying as if they’ve never done any “toxic” things in their life such as toxic beliefs, actions, words etc. (￣へ￣）
omg that's what i say all the time!!! people don't exhibit negative traits for no reason. you need to understand the circumstances and obstacles they face to truly understand their actions. basically you need to read the manhwa holistically and actually use your brain. too hard for some BL readers? lmao
It’s so funny cause some readers are willing to tolerate BL manhwa that exhibit rape and gaslighting because it’s interesting. That is more toxic than what these characters are doing. Istg, some people just accept the story when it’s their ship that sails because it fits their narrative ╮(￣▽￣)╭

also i'm a little disappointed that the author just tossed the best friend aside and ignored him after the two leads got together. i would've liked to see him get more depth and also see his friendship dynamic with the mc
I really dont understand why the author would suddenly do the second couple dirty like that at the VERY END. it doesn't even make sense.
one side finally accepted his feelings for the other, and they even started seeing each other and I was like "ah yes, now the story will reach its conclusion" --but then all of a sudden, out of nowhere there's a break up, and the story just ends? WHY THO??

I tried to think from a Taku stan perspective and if Taehae was endgame, why the story would be called Love or Hate. And I thought: "the love stands for taku... and the hate stands for joowon" ??? and then I just shook my head because it simply doesn't work. Even if you were a Taku stan, you know that would be delusional. Haesoo will never truly hate Joowon. He loves him so much that it rips him apart, and thats why he's so emotionally hurt, and thinks he could "hate" Joowon. Meanwhile what if both "Love" + "Hate" were about the SAME pairing? Joohae's relationship from the start was described as kind of a war of feelings: the push and pull, the hot and cold between them. Nothing of that sort existed with Taku. Everything was just... lukewarm with him. And I'm not saying that its wrong, or insulting the ship. But simply put: Taehae doesn't align with the title, and you can feel throughout the story that it's not the focus despite spending the most time together. This was Joohae's story from the start.
Ofc no hate to taehae shippers~ stay strong, you were loyal and went down fighting

I think readers need to stop babying him, and stop the Haesoo slander too. Reading that comment made me realize how often Taku fed off of Haesoo's hurt emotions + often just cares entirely about himself.
Ngl, I cant help but feel it's the opposite of Joowon. Maybe I'm wrong but: considering how many hits Joowon takes for Haesoo in this story, and Joowon still wholeheartedly loves Haesoo despite their hurtful separation n everything. I hope Taku finds happiness with someone else... but only when he learns that love is not being selfish and wanting your partner to suffer (as Haesoo said in his monologue when he saw Joowon in the hospital, and realized he was wrong for wanting joowon to fail or get hurt for his sake).
