Is there a special reason why you read Yaoi (shounen ai included)?

I mainly started reading yaoi because I was sick of the shoujo manga tropes with the weak-willed (either that, or just completely useless) female character, and the oppressive male character with no impulse control. It didn't sit well with me how I could never know if I was reading something consensus, or just plain sexual harassment/rape, because ......
