If you're going to read the raws of chapter 16, you"'ll see this thing he told Fuji --> "お前が a だったらよかったのに" translates to "I wish you were an alpha" meaning Tamaki really did love Fuji but Erika (mom of the alpha) influenced his decision about an omega loving a beta partner will just lead to unhappiness and that made him choose alpha guy instead of Fuji which is the person he really liked

I think that's even more awful because imagine someone wishing you to be another gender (secondary in this case) because the person that you love can't accept you as you are. Sucks imo.
So Tamaki made a decision based on someone else's life, Erika gave up on her life and love because she accepted that because she's an omega she's only suppose to be with an alpha even if there's no love involved and in the end she wasn't happy and so now Tamaki's doing the same thing. He didn't even try to fight for his love he just accepted this so called faith. All I can say is he better not regret his decision once Fuji moves on. I also hope Fuji ends up working for his family instead of being around Tamaki and his wishy washy weak ass.

yeah he said that but it was a lie. he said that so the beta-kun will leave him when in truth, omega loves him the same as the beta. he's scared that if he's together with beta-kun, he'd ended up being like alpha's mother previous beta husband. that's because omega said he wished for beta-kun to be happier than anyone else - since being with an omega can only make him unhappy.
also a spoiler, in chapter 16, sure he had sex with alpha-kun. but he admitted it himself that he's the worst and even think of beta-kun while having sex with the alpha (even calling out fuji's name). so imo, i kind of understand the omega's feelings. he really wants to be with the beta but he's scared of going against the destiny. it's understandable that he wants his loved one to be happy, instead sacrificing himself.
