I'm almost positive that they are not directly related. Shirotani and Kurose, that is. The girl (in the chapter 21 chinese translation) happens to look like Kurose, but right now the story has one central theme that it has yet to tease out: (mysophobia and) the "sanity" or even "sanitized" standard to the ideal, true love.
I feel like an incest trope would add yet another layer to the story that detracts from a lot of the themes that we're already working with. Or rather, it would complicate them in a way that makes it almost impossible for the story to legitimize its point: that is, how people love each other and its expression is not something to be judged by others - there is no "staple" formula to romance. Adding incest further pushes the envelope by asking the readers to accept yet another aspect of Shirotani and Kurose's love that is unorthodox, just after we have it clearly articulated by one of the characters (Kurose) that the story surmises no issue with S&M, and even supposes that "mental health" in itself is a fuzzy status without clear definition. (e.g. In the opening chapter, Shirotani says he is willing to live with his mysophobia time and again. And then, Kurose, as a mental healthcare professional, defiles Shirotani before he is cured, even going so far as to capitalize on his mysophobia in order to bring out more sexual tension between them, insinuating that there is nothing problematic about Shirotani's condition, but that it can be considered a kink rather than a disability. Finally, Kurose admits his own mental duality and encourages us, as an audience, to accept his perspective (because the alternative, to shun him, was paralleled with Shirotani's past, a thing which we are unfamiliar with, aside from the knowledge that it has distorted Shirotani severely). In associating "It's disgusting" with the rejection of Kurose's binary, sadistic love, we are vaguely urged to instead accept him, rather than side with the obviously confused perspective of Shirotani.) Adding incest at this point would not help the story to work through the issues it has already brought up with the mental sanity of the characters, and thusly th legitimacy of their love.
I think it's an interesting idea to purpose that Kurose has somehow known Shirotani this whole time, but perhaps through relations with his father professionally, not by blood.

I'd also be totally into organizing a forum or something for this, where people interested in a continuation of sora o daite oyasumi can sign. In the end, I'll write a letter to kyuugou (in Japanese), with the signatures of all the fans enclosed, faithfully waiting for the series' revival, in order to encourage her to continue. Anyone interested?

Ahhhh! Yes! Am I too late to join in? Well, even if I am, I hope you managed to send it off without a glitch. I was so looking forward to the continuation of this series so it was quite disappointing to find out Sensei put it on hiatus.
Anyway, I digressed. My point is, thank you for trying to represent us for our enthusiasm on this series in a language that Sensei could understand. (笑) (●'◡'●)ノ

She isn't involved in too many other projects besides manga work and anthology covers. Her only work in English is "you and me, etc." which is out of print (but available on amazon!).
I'd say, if you go to her pixiv known as ここのつ, at least giving her extra traffic on her art might help her out a bit. :) good luvk

Count me in!

People realize and do research that Kuroshitsuji was never intended to be BL.
![](/images/home/manga-img-anonymous-30.png)
first of all, yana toboso ,the author, is a girl. If you don't know, kuroshitsuji was supposedly be a yaoi manga at first but the editor rejected the idea saying it's not gonna sell well, so yana toboso dropped the idea and the result is the kuroshitsuji now

I wouldn't call that editor an idiot, if it weren't for his suggestion this manga wouldn't have come this far and we wouldn't have been able to see such an amazing art improvement from yana-sensei. I think this manga is amazing even without being a yaoi and don't you think that those little subtle yaoi hints are much more enjoyable than just reading a hardcore yaoi manga?

The editor works for a shonen magazine and they've been working together before on Rust Blaster... O.o
It could never have been yaoi. Square Enix doesn't have any magazine like that, and she quit where she was serialised for yaoi a while before that (to work on Rust Blaster, then after Black Butler where her editor encouraged her to work on her idea of having a demon butler as a main character).
Just how do you guys think manga serializing works?

I don't know who down voted this, but obviously there are many mixed stories from people that don't make this very " obvious," Hot and Spicy."
Guys, literally google it. It's the oldest rumor about Kuroshitsuji ever, and the most baseless one to boot. I've been following the series for quite a few years now. And as much as I am a fan of BL, I'm not about to take on the convenient head canon that, just because the author is prone to homoerotic content, it does not mean that she was forced out of making the series full-on homosexual, or even that the original design specs for the story were BL.
After looking up the whole manga-making process, people would clearly understand that any given manga series in the modern day has not come into existence without first being sponsored by a magazine and publishing group for a targeted demographic. The key here is to understand that Yana, since her time as a recruited artist for square enix, actively understood and chose to be part of the shounen demographic, and to ascribe to the culture of storytelling that square enix has perpetuated. These stories tend to be more on the josei (old women) side of shounen, but they were never and probably will never be BL. Therefore, this series could not have originally been designed as a BL. Manga publishing doesn’t work like novel writing in the States or elsewhere, because the series has to “earn” its right to be put into its own volume format. First and foremost, the artist works has a team member to complete the monthly/weekly magazine issues that their publishing company puts out. Each story can have little deviation genre or demographic-wise, depending on the publishing company that the artist is beneath. And since Yana chose to be a part of square enix, a bigwig, she knew the type of stories she would write would have to be shounen – it would have been insulting, unprofessional, and unorthodox to even concede to the idea of fighting for a BL storyline, though this by no means meant that she was not allowed to have her fun with fanservice, as most authors do with straight pairing hints or sexualization of the female body.
You really...is the worst!!
Oh god this grammar sometimes ahaha.
yh I did make a few mistakes as I mentioned before Dx
But I guess is not too bad ^^
Ahahaha no prob I find it charming!! If you would like some proofing on scripts, I'm a proofreader for Indigo scanlations and I'd love to pitch in if you don't find it too imposing! Thanks for the update~ ♡
