You notice he's traumatized and abused and manipulated, but he's the dumb one? Istg some readers need to reread the story if they think it's as easy and MC is just 'dumb" for not doing the actions you think that would work out (which is already implied it won't, they come from powerful families and have more resources than MC, do you really think they'll let him go or not find him?

I know he’s traumatized and manipulated which makes it natural for him to choose the worst option but a human always has other options to decide something else to change that. He’s is willingly letting them do that to him by seeking them out. Yes, maybe he sees that as the only option but he could quite literally turn to someone else for help instead of his abusers. There’s effort in wanting help and then there’s giving up and acting like things will get better if you go along with whatever the abusers say, and I find that unbearably “dumb”

That's literally the mindset of a victim, that if they fight back it'll get worse. If he doesn't go along with them, they get very violent, and they do it even when he doesn't, so what does he have left? You could say he could ask for him, to who though? Who would believe him? The police? Police does nothing in Korea lol and everywhere tbh. They're rich kids, and he's the one who doesn't have resources, they can find him anyway and if he ever complains to the police, they can easily change things. Please understand they have the upper hand in everything. You just want him to be the "perfect victim" that has to fight back or else what's happening to them it's their fault, which is a terrible and dangerous mindset tbh.

Sorry I think you’re interpreting what Im saying wrong. Honestly I really just want him to get out of that situation. I don’t want him to be a “perfect victim”. And from what I’m analyzing from what you said, he should just keep quiet and submit to the abusers because they have the upper hand and no matter what he does he’ll be abused. How do you know that if he seeks out help no one will believe him? It’s never wrong to think that good people are out there to help him. I respect your perspective that in Korea it’s hard to find help but if he stays where he is he’ll most likely be driven to a point of suicide or feel like he’s only alive for the sake of the abuser.

It’s sad that victims fall for things like that but he can escape this if he truly wants to leave. I guess putting it in a way as dumb is kinda awful but how can someone trust another who abuses them? He’s had enough time to realize the wrongs that are happening. If he were a child however of course their perspectives of right and wrong would be obscured then I’d understand.

I understand, I also wish he could leave and get out of that situation, it's very frustrating, however I think many are interpreting his actions wrongly. It's not like he trusts them really, he's just manipulated and wants to hope that things won't keep being so bad. That's the power of the mind, he's so broken, abused and manipulated that he cannot see anything else. I'd like to see him trying to escape, absolutely, it's just that I don't think him doing these actions is being dumb, he's just that: broken, which is very sad to see. Is it horrible and frustrating and makes you want to shake him and hopefully find a solution viable for him? Yes, but I really don't believe he's dumb for not doing it, mostly because he's a victim. Also, it's important to note that he was abused by his father when he was growing up, I think that impacted as well, it makes sense that he behaves like that and is easy to manipulate. Truly sad.

You have a good point, and i acknowledge that his actions aren’t dumb now, It made me understand better where he’s coming from, and I do also hope he finds a way out of this soon. I feel like it’s easier to resort to calling him dumb because I’ve seen victims who have fought and succeeded irl, so not seeing him do anything has me questioning him so much and all because he wanted to hide that he kissed a friend.
