considering the era this takes place in, I'm not surprised by the father's reaction and whatever they did to seungho is beyond FUCKED UP. That being said, in the same breath if the father said jihwa was "sick" too I'm guessing he caught them doing something together and I'd probably lose my shit as well (NOT in the sense that his father did because that's just terrible) but in the sense that I'm not for NO children performing or engaging in any kind of sexual acts with each other. They never clarified exactly what age Jihwa and Seungho were when they were caught. It could've been years later.
We also have to take into consideration the era, like you stated before, 'cause during that time sexual maturity was around 13-18 years old for a LOT of countries. They considered the start of puberty the age to start marrying off and often they were and had kids before they even turned 20. This was the same for western countries since the mortality rate for both pregnancy and babies was very low since they didn't have the medical practices we have today. The younger you were the higher the chances were of having a safe delivery and a strong bloodline. The older you got the higher the risk of miscarriage or death during labor.
By today's standards it's kinda fucked up 'cause we are more advanced than they were back then-- we have the medical tech. to ensure or raise the chances of safe pregnancy and delivery so even people near menopause can still give birth.
His dad probably noticed Seungho's sexuality when they started introducing him to possible brides and he showed no interest in them. Later on this would be solidified when him and Jihwa were busted sleeping together-- and they don't necessarily say they were having sex so it coulda been something a lil more tame-- but either way it would not be shocking if they were like 15-16 around that time.

The guy said seungho's father said he was sick around 13 so obviously he did something at that age with jihwa or another kid because what father does something that drastic because of a lack of interest in brides? He obviously caught him doing something. jihwa also said he loved him since they were kids so I'm pretty sure they were younger than 15 and 16. I know exactly what was of age and how laws went back then, but the hint that they were doing sexual stuff (I don't think it was full blown sex ofc) as kids is disturbing to picture and maybe it's because I'm older but I go straight into parent mode
I know the things kids do when they're curious, which is why I said "if I catch you". You try being a parent and you catch your 11, 12 or 13 year old doing some shit and it won't be a breeze. You gone be up in fucking arms about it. Like yeah, they'll get talked to.. + disciplined because that's out of line.
I said sexual acts, which could be many things and with the way this story works I can guess it was something a little more vulgar than an innocent peck. I didn't think literal FULL ON fucking of course.
I don't even waste music on this story anymore because I've come to learn that by the end of every chapter I'll be annoyed. As someone who didn't care what the ship ends up being I feel like this entire story was all for nothing. In the end, haesoo wanted space and joowon needed the time away from haesoo to figure out that he (himself) was a toxic person to him. Now he's got a cool head. Done. This plot could've been complete in -at most- 20 chapters. Everything that comes with this manhwa (like the gorgeous art, the characters and the plot) the author didn't use this for even half it's potential. Everything was so dry and all around boring, which SUCKS to admit because so much could've happened in this story
