I'm portuguese. So in this case, "range" is form the verb "ranger" and on this context it's like "creaking wood". Basically, it means that the bed is creaking with their weight and movements. Hope it helps!! (=・ω・=)

Yes, but it's not the closest translation. There are many examples like this, where technically the translation is right but it's not the "correct" one. That's what I hate most in the language. Some words in English (and others) have have 3 or more possible translations, wich confuses non-Portuguese speakers.
