but not bc of Calebs death, but how it ended, Calebs death would have been good if it was executed differently, for example,
he doesn't say he is bitten and just says that the father felt it was time for them to come back (or that their duty is relived or even something like ppl have been there so they should change places ?), so Caleb wouldn't get in the helicopter and lou would've been dragged to the helicopter, so
THEn he would have a real reason to come back,
THEn he would have to confront his father saying bla bla bla and that he needs to go back to get Caleb, so
ThEn we could see how he has grown as a character.
if they have left something like the father said it would be more intelligent that he gets it for them than waisting fuel, also helicopters are really loud so ppl would just follow the helicopter and find them, not really a smart move.
when lou got back to the base he would see Caleb but he would be turned and maybe even bite Lou so that they could die together? idk there were a lot of things that could've made the ending so much better even with the death of a mayor character...
also, one thing that just doesn't make sense is the father, so much talking that he is so powerful etc etc building his image for a mere 5 panel's in the end that doesn't really matter, so much hate for him for nothing to actually happen, why build an antagonist when it's not relevant to the plot.
maybe the artist was burnt out? a lot of pressure maybe ? I would still prefer they got a long break and then come back than having a bad written ending.
..you know what would been also cool?him saying he got bitten and saying the his father watches them so lou tries to contact him bc he is a rich and powerful man so of course he has a cure, but doesn0't respond ( of course his father woudn't give it that easily) so he searches everything in the building revealing a note his father saying where he is or something like that so they try to go where his father is kill him or or even steal it, go back being chased by merthenaries and zombies(we could also see how he progressed as a character here) and give Caleb the antidote for it to not work or that its too late for it so he just decided to drink it himself for when Caleb decide to bite him he would get the antidote via his blood, and if the antidote doesn't work he would die with his loved one.

ok what if another person from earth appears/was summoned and claims to be the bride that prophecy says, and has something showing that it's true (it isn't) and Caius now has to decide what to do. to stay with him or go with what they think is the actual person from the prophecy.
