Pedophilia is a mental disorder, real pedophiles didn't choose to be one like any other patients with mental disorders. The crime is statutory rape, and there's tons also being committed by sexual predators that actually aren't pedophiles.
I think it's important to separate the disorder from the crime because all the stigma makes it really hard for them to seek treatment.
Treatment can prevent them from making victims.
That being said, pedophile or not, the teacher is a disgusting child rapist and should be jailed.
