Thats not even how debt works he got debt from his father not his mother. She sold him for money but thats not even equivalent to having debt on him…They didnt state if he got debt from his mother I would assume that he just got sold just for money.
So ur basically saying he isn't dumb but a shit ass person. Why should mc lend money to someone who sold him by accepting the money from someone else. He basically thinks it's ok to give money to his mom cuz he has someone who can lend him money when needed. This isn't about obligation and it's his CHOICE to give the money, he wasn't forced but choose to give for whatever reason it may be, but the fact that he gave it means he KNEW he can't return the amount he owns at present. So he knowing went extend his debt from leader by giving his mother money.
So he basically knew lending his mom money means delaying the repayment yet he still choose to do so. That's tells a lot

Theres already the guy willing to help him with the debt. So the author is foreshadowing in the future that his debt will be paid off.

I'm the same, sometimes I even forgot to text my bf, but he's very understanding with that bc he knows I'm a busy person, at first it my look like we are ignoring you, but genuinely our heads are in the clouds bc of the amount of things we had to do. THAT'S MY POV, I know there are people out there that will ignore you on purpose and that's when the red flag arise :(
